Cert IV [CHC44015 Certificate IV in Coordination of volunteer programs]

Volunteering WA in partnership with The Centre for Volunteering, through the National School of Volunteer Management [RTO #90031], is pleased to offer the Certificate IV in Coordination of Volunteer Programs (CHC44015).

This online 12-month course has been developed with the not-for-profit and community service professional in mind and is responsive to the latest trends and requirements for volunteer coordinators in Australia.

Endorsed by Volunteering Australia, the volunteer management Continuous Professional Development (CPD Program) is exclusive to Volunteering WA members* (conditions apply) who are actively leading volunteers. The program is designed for professional leaders of volunteers and is a formal avenue to improve and record your knowledge and skill development.

Participants are required to accumulate a minimum of 16 points in 12 months. These points can be attained through any combination of professional development opportunities.

Foundation Workshop: Key Issues of Volunteer Management (half day)

2 CPD Points \ Suitable for new volunteer coordinators or experienced managers looking for a refresher

This fast-paced, information-rich workshop is essential for anyone new to volunteer management and emerging volunteer involving organisations (VIOs). The key principles for effective volunteer management including building a solid foundation, connecting and supporting volunteers as well as reviewing and evaluating volunteer outcomes and programs will be covered.


Foundation Workshop: National Standards for Volunteer Involving Organisations (half day)

2- 5 CPD Points* \ Suitable for new volunteer managers and volunteer involving organisations wanting to implement the Volunteer National Standards

If your volunteer involving organisation coordinates volunteers or has management or governance responsibility, the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement will be a very useful. This workshop will uncover the challenges and benefits of implementing the eight nationals standards, and focus on gaps within your VIO and managing change as well as designing a National Standard action plan.

*2 CPD points are awarded for attending the workshop, and an additional 3 CPD points can be earned by reviewing your VIO's alignment to the National Standards and implementing the Standards into your organisation.

Throughout the year the team delivers workshops on specific topics and trends designed to build and enhance skills of new and experienced volunteer managers and coordinators, including workshops on grant writing, social media, leadership, and volunteer recruitment.


VWA Volunteer Manager Network (meets monthly)

Up to 0.5 Points per meeting attended \ Suitable for new and experienced volunteer managers looking to engage with peers

Engage with Volunteering WA, other volunteer managers and guest speakers on numerous topics selected by volunteer managers. Each meeting will focus on a specific topic(s), which will link to upcoming training scheduled throughout the year for more in-depth learning. 

*The Volunteer Managers Network (VMN) is free for Volunteering WA members and a small fee applies for non-members.

Volunteering WA team
Volunteering WA’s team bear valuable expertise in volunteer sector research, emerging issues and trends, advocacy and policy efforts compliance, best-practice, tapping into corporate volunteering, introductions to volunteer management IT Platforms, effect and Volunteering WA’s services (including membership). Speaking engagements are general in nature, and do not replace formalised workshops and training courses.

Volunteering WA Volunteer Leadership Network (VLN)
Volunteering WA convenes the Volunteer Leadership Network (VLN) with representatives from different volunteering sectors. Members of the VLN can be invited to speak and present* to your organisation or at your next event on topics related to the value of volunteers and volunteer management, as well as the strategic relationship between volunteers and organisations.


The Volunteer Leadership Network offer a limited number of speaking opportunities to Volunteering WA Members. If you would like to invite a VLN representative to speak at your next event, please submit the Training and Guest Speaker Request Form.
