International Volunteer Day Garden Party
International Volunteer Day (IVD), mandated by the UN General Assembly, is held each year on 5 December across the world and recognises the outstanding contribution that volunteers make in their communities.
With over 600,000 volunteers in Western Australia International Volunteer Day is a day for mass celebration. Volunteer Involving Organisations celebrate the contributions of thousands of volunteers who support their programs and services to the community. Various events are held around Western Australia including thank you breakfasts, BBQs, afternoon teas, volunteering expos and Volunteering WA’s annual Garden Party hosted by our Patron, the Governor of Western Australia. Held in the exquisite gardens of Government House over 500 volunteers, dignitaries and volunteering involving organisations come together and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of celebration. On International Volunteer Day and every day, Volunteering WA acknowledges all the volunteers across our State.
