Growing inclusive and thriving volunteer communities

Success stories from our project-based grants program

Volunteering WA administers an annual grants program to support projects focused on removing barriers to volunteering for priority groups, including First Nations people, newly arrived migrants, people with disability, vulnerable women, youth and the unemployed.

In 2022-23, seven organisations were selected to undertake projects and we share the outcomes, insights and stories so volunteer involving organisations, volunteer managers and leaders can learn, and support inclusive volunteering.

Recipient organisations came together to discuss their project at the Showcase event, which was a celebration of the messages and outcomes from the volunteer management projects.

View the grants page for updates on further rounds of funding. For any questions or support for volunteer management, please email VIOHelp or phone 9482 4333.

Working together, we can help you create a more inclusive and accessible volunteer program.

Supporting Ability Heroes to plan, write and advertise effective volunteer position descriptions

Volunteering WA met with the Ability Heroes team to review and better understand their organisational goals, website functionality, and their current needs. Ability Heroes sent a first draft of a position description to Volunteering WA and the short description needed a little attention.
