05/07/2024

  • Expressions of interest now open for the Volunteering Community Reference Group
  • Representatives from the volunteering sector encouraged to apply
  • Group provides important link between the sector and State Government

The Cook Government is calling for people to be a voice for the volunteering sector by nominating to be a part of the Volunteering Community Reference Group (the Reference Group).

The Reference Group, established under Minister for Volunteering Don Punch, provides an important link between the sector and the State Government.

The role of the Reference Group is to provide the State Government with updates on emerging trends, issues impacting the sector and feedback on the implementation of the WA Volunteering Strategy.

Expressions of interest for the Reference Group are open to people from the volunteering sector and membership is for two years.

Young people, LGBTQIA+ people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disability, and people living in regional and remote areas of Western Australia are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Volunteering Community Reference Group will be made up of 12 to 15 members and will include representatives from the volunteering sector - including individuals and organisations – as well as the sector peak body Volunteering WA and the Department of Communities.

The expression of interest process will establish a membership pool to draw from when vacancies arise. Click here to learn more about the group and register your interest by 4pm Friday 9 August 2024.
