27/06/2018

Volunteering WA would like to announce that The Honourable Kim Beazley AC has accepted their invitation to become the Patron of Volunteering in Western Australia.

In his role as Patron, the Governor will support and endorse the work that Volunteering WA does as the peak body for volunteering in our State, and be a champion for volunteers in our communities.

On May 24, Governor Kim Beazley attended his first event hosted by Volunteering WA, where he addressed guests at the WA Volunteer of the Year Awards and recognised the recipients and finalists for the contributions they make to volunteering. At the award ceremony, the Governor said, ‘There is hardly one area of our economy and society which is not enriched by volunteering, be it  education,  religion,  emergency  services,  law  enforcement,  industry,  healthcare  (including  for  the  elderly  and  disadvantaged),  disabilities,  the  arts,  politics,  sport  and  recreation,  and  fundraising  for  critical  and  life- saving projects.

Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams said, ‘It’s an honour to welcome the Governor as our Patron which represents how much he values the significance of volunteering. I’d also like to express my sincere thanks to our outgoing Patron Mrs Kerry Sanderson for her incredible passion and commitment to volunteering over the last four years including most recently, where she hosted a party to celebrate our organisation’s 30th anniversary.’
