The findings will provide a profound understanding of how to enhance the effectiveness of future CPD programs, and in turn, better equip volunteer managers to excel in their roles. The research conducted by Monash University and Volunteering Victoria examines the effectiveness of a continuing professional development (CPD) program for volunteer managers. The study aims to evaluate the program's impact on volunteer managers' skills, knowledge, and practices. Focus group discussions with the volunteer managers who participated in the CPD program were used to gather insights into participants' perceptions, experiences, and suggestions for program improvement. One significant finding is the positive impact of the program on volunteer managers' professional development. Participants reported gaining new skills, knowledge, and insights that enhanced their ability to effectively manage volunteers and address challenges within their organizations. Another key theme is the importance of peer learning and networking opportunities provided by the CPD program. Participants valued the chance to share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from their peers, emphasizing the significance of collaborative learning in professional development. The report also highlights the need for ongoing support and follow-up after completing the CPD program. Participants expressed a desire for continued access to resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to sustain their learning and apply new knowledge in their roles as volunteer managers. The research reinforces the importance of investing in professional development programs tailored to the needs of volunteer managers and the value of ongoing support and networking opportunities in sustaining professional development efforts. This will not only mean volunteer managers can enhance their skills, knowledge, and practices, it will ultimately lead to improved volunteer management and organizational outcomes.
