Celebrating International Volunteer Managers Day

05/11/2021

International Volunteer Managers Day - 5 November

Today we celebrate Volunteer Managers and Coordinators from around Australia through International Volunteer Managers Day (IVMD).

IVMD is a day to acknowledge the vital work of Volunteer Managers and Coordinators, and the role that they play in ensuring safe and effective volunteering in our communities. Without the important work that Volunteer Managers and Coordinators undertake, volunteering simply couldn’t happen in many Volunteer Involving Organisations.

We'd love to know what you are doing to celebrate, so don't forget to tag #IVMDay21 in your social posts!

This year’s theme is “What Is Excellence? – Pushing us beyond the ordinary”, designed to encourage thought around what ‘excellence’ really means for the profession of volunteer management. Volunteering Australia aims to contribute to “excellence” in a number of ways.

The National Strategy for Volunteering

Earlier this week, we were delighted to announce that we are embarking on an exciting journey to lead the development of a National Strategy for Volunteering. The National Strategy will be designed and owned by the volunteering ecosystem and will provide a blueprint for a reimagined future for volunteering in Australia.

Through Australia’s first National Strategy for Volunteering in ten years, we will be engaging with all members of the volunteering ecosystem to design a National Strategy that is effective, inclusive and sustainable. Your input is needed to make this project a success and you can sign up to receive updates now.

Continuous Professional Development

The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program for Professional Leaders of Volunteers is a formal avenue to improve your knowledge, skills and future employability.

Participants say that the CPD program has helped them connect with like-minded professionals, boosted confidence and gain a recognised qualification.

Endorsed by Volunteering Australia, the CPD Program is currently offered by the Centre for Volunteering (NSW)Volunteering QueenslandVolunteering TasmaniaVolunteering Victoria and Volunteering WA.
