Strengthening sector through technology

VIKTOR: Volunteer recruitment

VIKTOR is the national volunteering database developed by Volunteering WA and endorsed by all of the State and Territory volunteering peak bodies across Australia. It continues to grow and connect people to their communities by providing organisations and Volunteer Resource Centres across Australia with the technology to reach potential volunteers, with on average 8,200 active volunteer roles listed through VIKTOR at any time nationally.

Positions posted through the VIKTOR platform are automatically listed on the national SEEK Volunteer site, VWA’s GoVolunteer website, and a number of other partner sites. This ensures positions reach as many potential volunteers as possible. A combined 269,054 expressions of interests from potential volunteers were sent to volunteer involving organisations across Australia.

Despite the continued disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, use of VIKTOR has continued to grow as Volunteer Resource Centres and volunteer involving organisations increase their online presence and meet the ongoing demand for virtual volunteering roles.

VIRA: Volunteer management

VIRA is Volunteering WA’s easy-to-use volunteer management system that simplifies and streamlines every facet of volunteer management. This past year saw a 20% increase in the number of organisations purchasing VIRA.

Future Development – Complete IT Revamp

Volunteering WA was awarded a substantial grant from the Woodside COVID-19 Community Fund to create a brand new volunteer management IT system, to replace the current outdated platform.

This brand new system will enable Volunteering WA to better support the volunteering sector and our local communities where we live and work, to respond not just to COVID 19 and community recovery initiatives but to support volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations into the future.

Utilising funding from Woodside’s COVID-19 Community Fund, phase 1 of system development is focused on improving volunteer management capabilities and will allow volunteers to create and manage their own volunteer profile, register as a volunteer during an emergency or period of community recovery and also be added to a ‘volunteer pool’ to be activated for future emergencies.

Volunteer involving organisations will in turn be able to access these pools of volunteers and offer them volunteer positions at any time, not just in case of an emergency or community recovery.

The pilot system is currently in development ready to be tested ahead of the launch at Volunteering WA’s State Conference in November 2021.
