National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering with thousands of events and activities held across the country during 19 - 25 May 2025.
The Kind Words Challenge
Brighten someone’s day with a handwritten card this National Volunteer Week.
Every day, people across Western Australia are facing challenges that can leave them feeling isolated, anxious, and alone. A kind word at the right moment can make all the difference, and this National Volunteer Week, you have the power to bring that moment to life.
We’re proud to introduce the Kind Words Challenge, a heartfelt volunteering activity inviting Western Australians to write a supportive, handwritten message to someone who needs a little kindness. Whether it’s a senior in aged care, a person in hospital, new parents, or carers, your message can help them feel seen, valued, and connected.
It feels pretty special to receive a handwritten note. Our aim is to spread this joy and connection with those who really need it. Because everyone deserves social connection, to be acknowledged and feel valued, regardless of their circumstances.
