Nominations for the 2012 Volunteering Awards are now closed.
The Western Australian Volunteer of the Year Awards program is committed to acknowledging the remarkable endeavours of Western Australian volunteers. These awards promote the value and important contribution of volunteering to the social, cultural, economic and environmental well-being of Western Australia and pay tribute to those who inspire and promote the spirit of volunteerism through their endeavours.
Award nominations cover seven categories.
Recipients will be announced at a National Volunteer Week Gala Awards Presentation dinner on Wednesday 16 May 2012 in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Perth Hotel.
The Awards
The awards are presented in seven categories:
- The Edie Hoy Poy Volunteering Award for Ethnic Communities
Recognising an outstanding contribution and commitment to volunteering in Western Australia's culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The recipient receives a stylish commemorative statue.
Award partner: The late Edie Hoy Poy OAM Deed of Gift
- Western Australian Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering
Honours an exceptional and inspirational lifelong contribution to volunteering.
The recipient receives a stylish commemorative statue.
Award partner: Silver Chain
- Excellence in Volunteer Management
Acknowledges excellence in volunteer leadership and management of a volunteer program by a salaried or non-salaried volunteer practitioner.
The recipient receives a stylish commemorative statue.
Award partner: St John of God Subiaco Hospital
- Western Australian Youth Volunteer of the Year
Acknowledges a young Western Australian aged 18 to 30 years who through their volunteering endeavours has brought about positive change to their own life and to the lives of others and/or the environment.
The recipient receives a cash donation to further their professional, personal or voluntary endeavours and a stylish commemorative statue.

- Western Australian Volunteer of the Year
Recognises a Western Australian who through their voluntary undertakings epitomises the spirit of volunteering and makes an exemplary contribution to the betterment of the well-being of Western Australia and its people.
The recipient receives a cash donation to further their professional, personal or voluntary endeavours and a stylish commemorative statue.

- Western Australian Corporate Volunteering Award
Recognises an employer who leads and excels in a best practice corporate volunteering program to benefit the Western Australian community.
The recipient receives a stylish commemorative statue.

- Western Australian Community Volunteering Award
Recognises a Western Australian volunteer involving organisation that provides innovative leadership and through best practice in volunteering brings about positive and enduring change to their community.
The recipient receives a cash donation to further their professional, personal or voluntary endeavours and a stylish commemorative statue.
