HR Management for Volunteer Managers - Level 2

time: 09:30 to 16:30 location: City West Lotteries House, 2 Delhi Street, West Perth, 6005

This specialised area of managing volunteers is divided into three levels.

Session 2 – Human Resource Management level 2

This one day session builds on VWA’s Basic Training: “Key Issues” and “National Standards” and Human Resource Management level 1 and will cover:

  • Supporting volunteers in the workplace
  • Communication skills to build and maintain relationships with your volunteer workers who present communication challenges, and facilitate discussions (CHCCOM403A)
  • Establish effective workplace relationships by collecting, analysing and communicating information (BSBWOR401A)
  • Promote team effectiveness, performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to promote teamwork.  This involves developing team plans to meet expected outcomes, leading the work team, and proactively working with the management of the organisation (BSBWOR402A)
  • Identify risk and apply established risk management processes (BSBRSK401A)
  • Continuous improvement

Pre-requisite: completion of Human Resource Management level 1.

Includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Price includes GST.

A follow on level 3 course will be offered in 2014.

Volunteer Managers Network Meeting - 12/09/13

The Volunteer Management Network forum is designed for coordinators and managers of volunteers to enable them to come together in an atmosphere of common interest and friendship. It is an opportunity to discuss issues, ideas and concerns relating to volunteer management programmes, as well as a great networking opportunity with other like-minded professionals. Everyone is very welcome, regardless of levels of experience as knowledge and good practice is shared for the benefit of all.

This session is free to members of Volunteering WA.

Introduction to Volunteer Management and to VWA

Are you new to your role as a Volunteer Manager / Coordinator?  This half-day introductory workshop will greatly assist you in understanding the principles of volunteering and the skills needed to be an effective volunteer manager. We look at a Volunteer Management Model and the basics of recruitment, selection, orientation, training and retention of volunteers. 

You will also be introduced to VWA staff and learn how they can assist you in your role. (It is recommended you also attend the afternoon session on Volunteer Rights and Responsibilities)

Knowing your rights and responsibilities as a volunteer will prepare you to be more confident in your volunteering role. This session also includes the responsibilities the organisation has towards you, and you have to the organisation.

Fundamentals of Project Management

time: 09:30 to 16:30 location: City West Lotteries House, 2 Delhi Street, West Perth, 6005

This full-day workshop will give you the knowledge required to manage a straightforward project or a section of a larger project.  It includes developing a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalizing and reviewing the project to identify lessons learnt for application to future projects. 

This unit may give partial evidence for competency in BSBPMG510A Manage Projects.

Includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Price includes GST.
