HR Management for Volunteer Managers - Level 1

time: 09:30 to 16:30 location: City West Lotteries House, 2 Delhi Street, West Perth, 6005

This specialised area of managing volunteers is divided into three levels.

Session 1 – Human Resource Management level 1

This one day session builds on VWA’s Basic Training: “Key Issues” and “National Standards” and will cover:

  • The importance of knowing and following identified policies and practices and adapting them for your volunteers (CHCCS400C)
  • Reporting unethical conduct (CHCCS400C)
  • Conflict:  identifying the cause, establishing and implementing strategies for dealing with conflict, and evaluating the response and outcome (PSPGOV411A)
  • Dealing with grievances
  • Dealing with tricky situations
  • Integrating volunteers in the workplace with paid workers
  • Work within a relevant legal and ethical framework (CHCCS400C) 

Pre-requisite:  Attendance at VWA’s “Key Issues” and “National Standards” basic training.

Includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Price includes GST.

Volunteer Managers Network Meeting - 30/05/13

The Volunteer Management Network forum is designed for coordinators and managers of volunteers to enable them to come together in an atmosphere of common interest and friendship. It is an opportunity to discuss issues, ideas and concerns relating to volunteer management programmes, as well as a great networking opportunity with other like-minded professionals. Everyone is very welcome, regardless of levels of experience as knowledge and good practice is shared for the benefit of all.

This session is free to members of Volunteering WA.

Key Issues of Volunteer Management

This one day training will further develop your managerial skills and covers the key principles for effective volunteer management, such as:

  • What motivates people to volunteer, to stay or leave your organisation
  • Job Descriptions, recruiting, selecting, retaining, rewarding, dismissing volunteers
  • Developing a recruitment message to attract the best volunteers
  • Attracting and retaining Generations X, Y and Boomers

This workshop will get you well and truly started to be an effective Volunteer Manager and may give partial evidence for competency in CHCORG525D: Identify the need and roles for volunteers, recruit volunteers, provide orientation, on-going support of volunteers; and SISCCRD302A: Identify organisation’s volunteer requirements, recruit, induct, manage volunteers.
