Job Service Provider forum invite

 

Under the new Job Services Australia contract Volunteering WA and Volunteer Resource Centres are seeing an increase in the number of approaches being made regarding voluntary work activities by Job Service Providers. On Thursday 28 January 2010 we will be hosting a free morning forum to discuss the impact of this on the volunteering sector. The aim of our forum will be to bring together representatives from DEEWR, Job Service Providers and not for profit organisations to share information, speak to each other, hear exactly what can be offered, the process involved, and to look at the impact this type of short term 'volunteering' has on volunteer involving organisations.

The audience will be made up of representatives from around 30 - 50 not for profit organisations, representatives from WA based Volunteer Resource Centres, staff from the Department for Communities, staff from the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations, staff from local Job Service Providers and staff from Volunteering WA.

As the peak body for volunteering in WA we hope the forum will provide useful information to not for profits and help you to decide whether or not you are in a position to be able to take on (often) shorter term people through this based on your current resources. We also hope that the feedback gained from this forum would be useful to the work of DEEWR and Job Service Providers in relation to the voluntary work option and give them an insight into what is involved from the not for profit’s side (eg volunteer manager’s time in creating/adapting special short term positions, reimbursement, time spent on induction/exit etc).

Fee based parking is available on Delhi St or at Harbour Town. Alternatively the venue is a located right beside City West train station.

We hope that you can join us on the day. If you feel someone else in your organisation would be better placed to attend please pass this invite on. Organisations may bring along more than one person as long as numbers are indicated in the RSVP.
