For Volunteers

If you want to volunteer or you are looking to find out more about volunteering then this is the section for you. You can search for a volunteering position, find out what volunteering is and learn more about it.

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to become an active member of your community, while helping others and yourself. People volunteer for many different reasons. Some do it to meet new people, learn new skills, add to their CV, to help other people, to make good use of their spare time, to take on new challenges, to use their skills and experience in a positive way.  Most people volunteer as individuals, but you may wish to volunteer with a group of friends or work colleagues.

As a volunteer you can choose how much time you are able to give and what sort of things you would like to do. There are thousands of volunteering opportunites throughout Western Australia, and many more throughout Australia and the rest of the world.  As a volunteer, you are a member of a huge body of people who make an important social and economic contribution to communities worldwide.

As a volunteer you have rights and responsibilites, that are contained in a Code of Practice for Volunteers, that you should read before you take on any volunteering role.    There is also a Code of Practice for Organisations that use volunteers.   Our member organisations will have necessary insurance for your protection.
