Enhancing Access Project

Volunteering WA's Enhancing Access project is an exciting initiative aimed at supporting people with disabilities and other barriers to engage in volunteering.

The project provides support to people with disabilities to ensure that their experiences in volunteering are enjoyable and rewarding. If you have a disability or a barrier to volunteering, the VWA Enhancing Access Team is there every step of they way! From simply helping you to find a volunteer position and making the initial phone call, to providing a support volunteer through the take2 program.

We also provide education and awareness training. Tailored Information to Volunteering sessions and Disability Awareness training are available to all VWA volunteers. Just check out our training calendar to find a date that works for you. Also, agencies that are interested are encouraged to contact VWA for Disability Awareness Training. Our trainers will come to your workplace and train staff members to promote a welcoming and supportive environment for all volunteers.

Enhancing Access volunteers out on a volunteering projectWe work closely with community organisations, volunteer referral centres and disability service providers to source potential volunteers and volunteering positions. There are an enormous amount of people in our community who have so much to give to the volunteering sector. Volunteering WA hopes to get as many people as possible into volunteering positions – the benefits are endless!

We want to help. If you are:

  • an organisation wishing to take volunteers
  • a person wishing to become a take2 support volunteer
  • a person with a disability wanting more information on volunteering

then contact any one of the Enhancing Access team – Janette, Beck or Martha on 9482 4333 or get in touch via the contact form
