CaLD Project
Volunteering WA has been running an exciting new project aimed at enhancing access to formal volunteering for culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities. The project, funded through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s Living in Harmony Programme, assisted people from CaLD communities to learn more about the diversity of ways people volunteer in the community.
If your organisation is based in Perth and would like more information on this project please contact Fran Robinson our project coordinator. To contact Fran please call the VWA office on 9482 4333.
The project included:
- ½ day free Cultural Awareness training for VWA member organisations
This three hour training session was held in the conference room at City West Lotteries House in West Perth.
- A series of day bus trips for CaLD community members
Groups of CaLD community members were taken to a variety of places to see volunteers in action. Participating CaLD Community members witnessed a diverse range of volunteer activities being undertaken in the community. Each stop on the tour lasted 20-30 minutes.
- A Harmony Day market day event
This market day event brought together participating organisations and CaLD Community members.
