VIKTOR
*Important news*
As of July 1 2008 VIKTOR is being replaced with VIKTOR Online. No sales of VIKTOR will be made after this date. Support will continue until July 2009 for those who already use VIKTOR but after this time there will be a charge for support. It is recommended that you think about upgrading before this time.
VIKTOR is not so much a traditional database, as it is an integrated solution to all of a Volunteer Resource Centre’s data capture needs. VIKTOR is actually an amalgamation of several smaller databases, some of which are linked together. This means that just one package can be used for the entire centre, reducing staff training times, cost and greatly improving data integrity.
VIKTOR current uses
The most obvious face of VIKTOR is the referral process. This is the process of matching a potential volunteer to a position. It searches to find the best set of choices for a given volunteer, and allows them to be displayed. However, VIKTOR can also work the other way around- given a position, you can search out volunteers who might be suitable (and willing) to take on that assignment. (This is particularly useful for one off events or urgent positions.) Volunteers with special skills (Such as certain languages) can be easily located.
The referral section stores information about:

- Volunteers
- Positions
- Agencies
- Referrals
It has extensive reporting and error checking capabilities, and can produce a wide variety of statistics. There is also a large contact management section. Designed to be a versatile component of the database, all of the centre’s contacts can be placed in here. This has the advantage that a single update will cascade throughout the database- so if a person changes their phone number, the update is seen in all areas. Mailing labels and nametags can be produced, as well as other reports.
VIKTOR has a subsection allowing document management- keeping track of mail in, mail out and filing. This section is largely self-contained, and it’s use is entirely optional. There is a small section to track telephone enquiries and messages. Again, this section is self-contained and optional. (Although data may be transferred to the referral section).
